Maybe it's not funny, but I find it utterly fascinating (maybe I really am a sad geek?) I checked your links to jog my memory. I recall something about them not perceiving the future as being in front of us, in the linear perception of past, present, and future.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Another book that has (to me) new insights on language comes from Oliver Sacks: "Seeing Voices". I recommend it to all language geeks.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7354171578524044422/1124267287859007433/comments/default/8379737931684137985'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7354171578524044422/1124267287859007433/comments/default/8379737931684137985'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.theblockheadblog.co.uk/2008/11/challenging-linguistic-theory-isnt.html?showComment=1226348940000#c8379737931684137985' title=''/><author><name>Karen</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/08814867190686442663</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.theblockheadblog.co.uk/2008/11/challenging-linguistic-theory-isnt.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7354171578524044422.post-1124267287859007433' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7354171578524044422/posts/default/1124267287859007433' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1041846719'/></entry></feed>
